Dear Jane and Susan,

Thank you for sharing your talents and enthusiasm this week with the students at the Bach Academy. It was a terrific week for our son. He made progress on the Bach Invention he had started in preparation for Harpsichord 101; enjoyed singing with you (as well as practicing the songs in the car, basketball court, at the table, etc); and especially had fun dancing and playing the xylophone. For me the field trip to Carmel with the students to the Adams Vocal Master Class was another highlight, in addition to the stellar Saturday morning performance at the amphitheater. How did you put it all together in a week's time? We are immensely grateful.

I had the occasion to talk with David Gordon about how much the children enjoyed the Bach Academy as well as Mary Castagna at the Sunset Center, who was busy again serving refreshments after the Youth Chorus concert on Saturday. Many people were also interested in learning more about the Carmel Bach Festival Youth Chorus. There seems to be a lot of interest in community in supporting the our Youth.

We appreciate all the effort that went into the planning and flawless execution.

Thank you so much for a terrific music week. Liam really enjoyed the Bach Academy and hopes to be invited back again next year. I asked him which part he liked best; he paused and replied "all of it!"

Dear Jane and Susan:

I'd like to thank you for organizing another successful Bach Academy this year. The extended days gave students more time to study the music and life of Bach, practice Baroque dances, deepen their mastery of choral music, and enjoy the fun community the staff established. The program was managed masterfully by both of you who are very experienced teachers and who made each child feel special and successful. The addition of the singing and Orff teachers this year provided a richer experience for students and the opportunity to spend more concentrated time in each area.

There are few programs offered for youth that can compare with the Bach Academy. It was an honor to have my son Dion participate for the second year. He became more confident in singing and dancing along with performing in front of an audience. These are life skills that will benefit him throughout his life. He became deeply fascinated with Bach and his accomplishments and life journey and loves the music. He's continued to sing the songs he learned in the class!

I hope that the program can continue to grow and evolve in future years. It provides a rare and rich opportunity for the youth of Santa Cruz County.
